International students can use the 24 hour new limit to grab winter gigs in Canada

Winter is usually cold and dry in Canada like everywhere around the world. But the Black friday and Christmas are the events that light up the economy and market during the winter.

With the new announcement of 24 hour weekly limit for working part-time, students are aiming for the seasonal jobs and short-term works of the season, so that they won’t be jobless during the peak winters of late December, January and February.

Seasonal opportunities in Canada

Seasonal jobs or gigs are those works which become available just because of certain seasons and trends in Canada. Boxing day Black Friday and Christmas are few of the events in Canada which flock the whole residents to spend money and in turn flourishes the Canadian economy.

The rise in demands automatically seeks more employment opportunities since handling such a large demand can be troublesome with usual staff.

If an outlet can run with 10 staff in summer or 6 staff in offseason, it could go up to 25 staff in seasons like black friday or Christmas.

Best opportunities students can grab during this winter in Canada

Some of the students might already have a job. Some may be waiting for their first. For the students with already one job, it will be more likely that they won’t be utilising the entire 20 hour limit of a week but rather capped at 14 – 16. With the additional 4 hours they have received, it would be enough to add one more job to their routine, without affecting the one job they already have.

For the newcomer students who are still waiting to find their first job, this seasonal job can give you a good work experience, which will enable you to get a better job during the next summer.
