Students get an additional 16 hours per month for part-time jobs in Canada

A breaking announcement was made by the Honourable Immigration Minister Marc Miller today that from November 15th 2024 onwards , the international students are eligible to work 24 hours a week off campus.

During the COVID period, the number of hours a student can work per week was increased to 40 hours. But due to the increase in work shortage, the government decided to downsize it to half.

New regulation for the International Students Program is effective from today onwards. It means that the 20 hour limit per week has been lifted and now students can work 4 more hours per week letting them earn approximately $68 CAD per week or $272 CAD per month by working at the minimum wage.

As per the new announcement, every immigrant international student can now work up to a total of 96 hours per month during the period of their study permit while classes are still in session.

During semester breaks, mandatory vacations and after class completion students can work up to 40 hours a week or 160 hours a month.

The new rule will significantly have a great positive impact on the social well being of international students amidst the stringent changes going on around to control the illegal immigrations and crisis created due to mismanaged admissions of international students leading the way to cause joblessness and price hike.
